Shipping Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

Dutch Cargo Bike Australia delivers electric bikes, cargo bikes, trikes, parts and accessories throughout Australia. Complete bikes require specialist handling, assembly and safety checks, so their delivery process differs from smaller products.

1. Shipping destinations

Deliveries are available to most residential and commercial addresses throughout Australia.
Some regional, remote or restricted locations may require an additional freight charge, delivery to a freight depot, or collection from the nearest Dutch Cargo Service Partner. We will contact you before dispatch if this applies.
Website orders are currently shipped within Australia only unless an international delivery arrangement has been agreed with us in writing.

2. Shipping costs

Shipping charges are based on the product type, size and weight, delivery postcode, professional assembly requirements, selected delivery or collection method, Service Partner availability, and any regional or remote-area freight charges.
The applicable shipping cost will be shown at checkout, included in your written quotation, or confirmed before dispatch.
Where free shipping is advertised, it applies only to the products, destinations and conditions stated in the offer.

3. Parts and accessories

In-stock parts and accessories are normally processed within 1-3 business days.
Estimated transit times after dispatch are: metropolitan areas 2-5 business days; regional areas 3-8 business days; remote areas 5-12 business days.
These timeframes are estimates and may vary due to carrier capacity, destination, weather, road closures, public holidays and other circumstances outside our reasonable control. Tracking information will be provided when available.

4. Bikes, cargo bikes and trikes

Complete bikes are generally delivered through our network of Dutch Cargo Service Partners.
Before collection or delivery, a bike may be inspected and prepared by Dutch Cargo, transported to a Service Partner, professionally assembled, safety checked, configured with selected accessories and prepared for customer handover.
In-stock bikes are generally prepared and dispatched within 3-10 business days. After arrival at the Service Partner, additional time may be required for assembly, inspection, accessory installation and handover.
The total estimated delivery timeframe for an in-stock bike is generally 7-21 business days, depending on the model, destination, freight availability and Service Partner capacity. A more specific estimate may be provided after order confirmation.

5. Service Partner collection and local delivery

Where a bike is delivered through a Service Partner, the Service Partner will contact you once the bike is assembled, checked and ready.
Collection is normally arranged directly with the Service Partner. Local home delivery may also be available in some areas, and any additional charge will be advised separately unless already included in your order.
Customers must not collect or use a bike until all required assembly and safety checks have been completed.

6. Direct delivery

In some locations, or for certain products, we may arrange direct delivery to your address.
Large products may arrive on a pallet or in protective freight packaging. The customer may need to assist with access, unloading or disposal of packaging unless these services have been specifically included.
Direct delivery does not include professional assembly unless expressly stated in the order confirmation.

7. Pre-orders, special orders and backorders

Products identified as a pre-order, special order or backorder are not immediately available for dispatch.
Any production, arrival or delivery date provided is an estimate based on information available from the manufacturer or supplier. Supplier, production, shipping and customs delays may affect the timeframe.
We will contact you if we become aware of a material change to the expected delivery date.

8. Order processing

Orders are processed on business days, excluding Victorian and national public holidays. Orders placed after business hours, on weekends or on public holidays will begin processing on the next business day.
Before dispatch, we may contact you to confirm the delivery address, access requirements, nearest suitable Service Partner, recipient contact details, delivery instructions or special handling requirements. Delays in receiving this information may delay dispatch.

9. Delivery estimates

All delivery dates and timeframes are estimates unless we have expressly agreed to a guaranteed delivery date in writing.
Estimated delivery time includes order handling, preparation and assembly time, plus carrier transit time.
Delivery estimates shown on our website, at checkout, in quotations or in Google Shopping listings are intended to reflect the expected total delivery period.

10. Delivery delays

Delivery may be delayed due to carrier disruptions, severe weather, road closures, public holidays, seasonal freight volumes, supplier or production delays, customs delays, remote-area access limitations, Service Partner capacity or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where we become aware of a material delay, we will provide an updated estimate where possible. Nothing in this policy limits rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Authority to leave

Small parcels may be left in a safe location where authority to leave has been selected or where the carrier terms permit it.
High-value products, batteries and complete bikes will generally require a signature, confirmed handover or collection from a Service Partner.
Where a customer authorises a carrier to leave an order unattended, responsibility passes to the customer once the carrier records it as delivered at the nominated location, except where otherwise required by law.

12. Incorrect delivery information

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, postcode, email address, phone number and recipient name.
Additional freight, redelivery, storage or return charges caused by incorrect or incomplete information may be charged to the customer.

13. Missed deliveries

If no one is available to accept delivery, the carrier may leave the parcel in a safe location, take it to a collection point, return it to a freight depot or arrange redelivery.
Additional redelivery or storage charges may apply where permitted by law.

14. Damaged deliveries

Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery or collection.
1.    Photograph the outer packaging before opening it.
2.    Photograph the product and any visible damage.
3.    Retain all packaging.
4.    Note the damage with the driver where possible.
5.    Contact Dutch Cargo promptly.
Please report visible freight damage within 48 hours where reasonably possible. This assists with carrier claims but does not remove rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Do not ride, assemble, charge, modify or use a bike or battery that appears to have been damaged in transit until you have spoken with us.

15. Missing or incorrect items

Please contact us promptly if your order is incomplete, you received an incorrect item, tracking shows delivery but the order has not been received, or a product is missing from the shipment.
We will investigate the matter with the carrier, warehouse or Service Partner and arrange an appropriate resolution.

16. Split shipments

Orders containing multiple products may be shipped separately. For example, accessories may be shipped directly while a bike is delivered to a Service Partner for assembly and handover.
You will not be charged additional shipping solely because we choose to split an order, unless an additional delivery arrangement has been requested by you.

17. Changes to delivery details

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your delivery address or delivery instructions.
We cannot guarantee that delivery details can be changed after the order has entered preparation, assembly or dispatch. Additional freight charges may apply if a shipment must be redirected.

18. Cancellations

Contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel an order.
We cannot guarantee that an order can be cancelled once preparation, assembly, accessory installation or dispatch has commenced.
Pre-orders, special-order products, customised bikes and products sourced specifically for a customer may be subject to additional cancellation conditions under our Terms and Conditions and Refund Policy.

19. Risk and ownership

Risk in the goods passes to the customer when the goods are delivered to the nominated address, collected by the customer, or handed over by a Service Partner, except where otherwise required by law.
Ownership of the goods does not pass to the customer until full payment has been received.
