What is the best electric cargo bike for families in Australia?

The Urban Arrow Family Next Pro is Australia's most popular family cargo bike. For families wanting a front-loader trike, the Nihola Medium offers outstanding stability. Dutch Cargo Bike carries all major family cargo bike brands.

Can a cargo bike replace a car?

Yes. Dutch Cargo customers typically save $8,000–$10,000 per year in fuel, parking and maintenance costs. Cargo bikes handle school runs, groceries, errands and short commutes easily with Bosch electric assist.

Are electric cargo bikes legal in Australia?

Yes. Electric bikes with a motor up to 250W and pedal assist up to 25km/h are classified as bicycles and are legal on roads and bike paths in all Australian states. No registration or licence is required.

What is novated leasing for e-bikes?

Novated leasing lets you pay for your electric bike using pre-tax salary through a salary packaging arrangement with your employer. Dutch Cargo Bike offers novated lease options on most e-bikes and cargo bikes in our range.

Which cargo bike is best for carrying kids?

Front-loaders like Urban Arrow Family are ideal for 1–3 young children. Longtail bikes like Urban Arrow Breeze suit older kids. Trikes like Nihola offer the most stability for special needs children. Book a test ride to find the right fit.

What is the difference between a longtail and front-loader cargo bike?

A front-loader carries cargo in a box at the front — ideal for young children. A longtail extends the rear rack to carry children or cargo behind the rider — more bicycle-like and easier to manoeuvre.

Do electric cargo bikes work on hills?

Yes. With a Bosch Performance Line motor, hills become effortless even with a full load. Models with Bosch Performance Line CX (85Nm torque) handle very steep gradients easily.

How far can an electric cargo bike travel on one charge?

Most Dutch Cargo bikes with a 400–750Wh battery travel 60–120km per charge. Daily school run and errands (10–30km) are easily covered by most models.

Where can I test ride a cargo bike in Australia?

Dutch Cargo Bike has a flagship Experience Centre in Moorabbin, Melbourne. Test rides are also available in Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Hobart.

What warranty do electric cargo bikes come with?

Bosch motors and batteries are covered by a 2-year warranty. Most frames carry a 2–5 year manufacturer warranty. Dutch Cargo also provides ongoing servicing through a nationwide partner network.
