Welcome to the Bike Bus: A Fun and Sustainable Way to Get to School!
We are excited to announce the launch of the Lathlain Bike Bus, a fantastic initiative where groups of children cycle to school together every Friday morning. After a successful trial in Term 4 of 2023, the bike bus is now a regular feature during school terms at Lathlain Primary School.
What is a Bike Bus?
A bike bus is a group of people who cycle to school in a group along a set route and timetable. It picks up more “passengers” along the way, much like a standard bus, ensuring everyone gets to school on time while enjoying a safe and fun ride.
Benefits of the Bike Bus
- Increased Physical Activity: Encourages children and parents to be more active.
- Social Interaction: Kids can socialize and burn off energy before school, helping them focus better in class.
- Enhanced Safety: Riding in a group increases visibility and safety for all participants.
- Environmental Impact: Reduces traffic congestion and carbon emissions around the school.
- Fun Factor: Riding together is enjoyable and builds a sense of community.
We are proud to support the Lathlain Bike Bus by providing a special cargo bike designed for young riders aged 3 to 6. This new addition allows the Bike Bus to carry up to five young cyclists-to-be, along with their bags, making it easier for even more children to join the ride.
